In vivo electron donation from plastocyanin and cytochrome c to PSI in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

چکیده
Many cyanobacteria species can use both plastocyanin and cytochrome c6 as lumenal electron carriers to shuttle electrons from the b6f either photosystem I or respiratory c oxidase. In Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 placed in darkness, about 60% of active PSI centres are bound a reduced donor which is responsible for fast re-reduction P700 vivo after single charge separation. Here, we show that bind dark participate phase reduction, but fraction pre-bound smaller case than with plastocyanin. Because inter-connection respiration photosynthesis cyanobacteria, inhibition oxidase results over-reduction photosynthetic transfer chain translates into lag kinetics oxidation at onset light. We this true c6, indicating partitioning transport between regulated same way independently two present, although mechanisms such regulation yet be understood.

A Bioelectrochemical Approach to Characterize Extracellular Electron Transfer by Synechocystis sp. PCC6803
Biophotovoltaic devices employ photosynthetic organisms at the anode of a microbial fuel cell to generate electrical power. Although a range of cyanobacteria and algae have been shown to generate photocurrent in devices of a multitude of architectures, mechanistic understanding of extracellular electron transfer by phototrophs remains minimal. Here we describe a mediatorless bioelectrochemical ...
متن کاملPhycobilisome rod mutants in Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6803.
The phycobilisome is a large pigment-protein assembly that harvests light energy for photosynthesis. This supramolecular complex is composed of two main structures: a core substructure and peripheral rods. Linker polypeptides assemble phycobiliproteins within these structures and optimize light absorption and energy transfer. Mutations have been constructed in three rod-linker-coding genes loca...
متن کاملMultiple light inputs control phototaxis in Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6803.
The phototactic behavior of individual cells of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6803 was studied with a glass slide-based phototaxis assay. Data from fluence rate-response curves and action spectra suggested that there were at least two light input pathways regulating phototaxis. We observed that positive phototaxis in wild-type cells was a low fluence response, with peak spectra...
متن کاملStudy of Light Wavelength Dependency in Red-Orange Spectrum on Continuous Culture of Synechocystis sp. PCC6803
In this study, the effect of light wavelength on growth rate and lipid production of Synechocystis was investigated. Continuous cultivation system was used to have uniform cell density and avoid self-shading in order to obtain more precise results. Based on previous studies, red light is more efficient than other colors in the visible spectrum for cultivation of Synechocystis; however, the opti...
